I'm thinking about installing a Wiki for the AM and AD sites. Our ISP uses
Windows-based machines. Can anyone recommend an engine to go with?

Thanks in advance.

This must be the "in thing". I just converted both of my sites to a Wiki
(about a month ago). I did some pretty extensive investigating, and after
evaluating many different alternatives written in a variety of languages, I
decided on PMWiki (http://www.pmichaud.com/wiki/PmWiki/PmWiki). While I
wasn't too fond of the fact that it's written in PHP, it had most of what I
wanted (and I wanted some non-Wiki like functionality), so I went with it.
I've been pretty impressed.

The www.extensiblejava.com site is pretty much PmWiki out of the box. The
www.kirkk.com site is PmWiki with quite a few customizations (though it only
scratches about 10% of the functionality). Actually, unless you look at the
URL for www.kirkk.com, you can't even tell it's a Wiki.

I know PmWiki runs on Windows.

Last, I started my investigation by reviewing material on the C2 site.
Here's a link: http://c2.com/cgi/wiki?WikiEngines. Yeah, there are a lot.

As an aside, and maybe a bit more inline with list topics, we've been using
Wiki's on a few of my projects lately. Wow...how effective. I'll be touching
on that briefly during my Continuous Integration case study on Friday at
SDExpo.

I see you're also at the SDExpo. If you have time, we should hook up to chat
about the WikiWay.

Everyone, thanks for the feedback. I've been meaning to set a Wiki up at
both the AM and AD sites for a long time now but my ISP hasn't been too
impressed with the idea. However, I think I'll soon have something going
so wait for an announcement.

Some comments to Kirk below.

Sure. Send I'll send a private email.

BTW, if anyone else is at the conference don't be shy. I'm the Canadian

you want to come by to chat, otherwise I'll be around the show somewhere.

We're using JSPWiki (www.jspwiki.org) and having good success so far (running under Tomcat on Windows). I've tried out about four different Wiki's over the last year or two and like this one the best so far (although the Smalltalk-base Swiki was pretty cool). Our application is J2EE-based, so finding a Wiki within the same language/environment was important to us, although you may not have this constraint.

We use JSPWiki on projects at work. It works well, and a newly released
version allows you to apply skins to change the presentation.

Colleagues,

we make extensive use of a Wiki = TWiki ( http://twiki.org )

Very useful with revision control and login to edit. Viewers can see all topics.

We could not work without it now.

I'd recommend FitNesse. Of all the wikis out there, none are easier to set
up. FitNesse is a download-and-go application. It has it's own webserver
built in, so you don't have to configure anything. You literally download
the package (http://fitnesse.org), unzip it, and then double click on
run.bat.

FitNesse can also be used for specifying and running customer acceptance
tests. Indeed, that's it's primary purpose.
