And one day, an old hack will be someone who remembers
Java. (Currently, an 'old hack' is likely to be someone who
remembers paper tape, punch cards, and that you could play
Smoke on the Water on mainframe core memory.)
I never played Smoke on the Water on mainframe core memory,
you must be thinking of somebody else. Pete? The beads
hurt my teeth. Was I doing it wrong?

We played our music on the line printers. Worked well with the 1400LPM
models. That was after we printed out fascimiles of the Playmate of the month using
X's and O's and a few other characters. Of course, when the Commodant of the
Marine Corps complained to the press that he "didn't understand why we have
1400 LPM printers; no one can read 1400 lines per minute", we pretty much
abandoned the whole thing and went back to playing "After the Ball was Over" on our
Abaci.

What the heck is "Smoke on he Water"? And as for he beads, I kept swallowing

It came somewhere between Elvis and computerised
keyboards. Probably not important. BTW, that's
computerised keyboard instruments - allegedly musical.

So, neither of us are even fully qualified as "old hacks"?
Disturbing. Maybe I should try this Java stuff, so I can get
in on the next round... or is that too opportunistic? ;-)

If it doesn't cause problems when you go through airport
security, I wouldn't worry about it.
