Hi
I have been through the entire AM web site and read every single
essay(twice). I am an ardent supporter and practioner of AM methods.
However no where is anytning mentioned about Project Management
principles an how its supported by AM. e.g. what are the PM artifacts in
AM and how are tasks, resources, time schedules managed in an Agile
project.
I still find myself hauling out MS Project to get the project scope
documented and to report back to stakeholders on project schedules. Do
other Agile modelers find themesleves in the same situation.
Thanks
Lester
Check out my favourite PM Guru, Rob Thomsett and his book RadicalI have been through the entire AM web site and read every single

for some great advice and a set of principles and practices for what he
calls eXtreme Project Management. Since I model *and* manage projects
here, I can recommend AM and XPM as a great combination for agile IT
projects. No-one who's into AM will find anything foreign in XPM...
Thomsett's website is at http://www.thomsett.com.au/ and you can
probably find free stuff from him and other XPM practitioners at
Cutter's Agile Software Development and Project Management resource
centre (http://www.cutter.com/project/index.html).
On the subject of MS Project, it's strength (and only useful feature
IMO) is in outlining project tasks and assisting with dependencies. We
are currently investigating tools that will distribute the job of
recording actuals back to the person/s assigned to the task/work-chunk.
Our organisation is happy to invest the time and cost in doing this
because it now values the metrics and better estimates that will result
in future projects, by keeping records of how long things really take to
accomplish.
regards,
Felicity

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.
