Areiel Wolanow, Project Delivery Manager

Agile Project Reporting In A Non-Agile World

Even after an organisation agrees to use Agile as an approach to
managing their development projects, business owners frequently expect those
projects to report on their progress in traditional metrics.

This presentation will explore several methods of satisfying
such demands while allowing a project team to continue operating in a fully
unfettered Agile environment.

Areiel Wolanow is a program delivery manager at ThoughtWorks UK,
where he oversees application development efforts. Prior to joining
ThoughtWorks, Areiel led Siebel’s global EAI practice and managed large
software implementation projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles.
He has served as a solution architect for central banks and major airlines,
and served as a regular contributor to publications such as Intelligent
Enterprise and DM Review.

Areiel has a bachelors degree in econometrics from UC Irvine, a
masters in finance from Cornell, and has passed the US CPA examination. He
carries technical certifications in Oracle, Java, Microsoft, and Siebel.

19.30 – 20.30
Sean Hanly, Head of Technology

How to Build Automated Acceptance Test Frameworks

When introduced to the concept of automated acceptance testing,
especially driving development from this perspective, most people get it
straight away. However, this enthusiasm tends to be short-lived and is
followed by numerous questions of the type:

a.. "yes that looks really cool, but I bet it took weeks to
create the framework..."
b.. "but we couldn’t possibly write an automated framework for
our legacy ABC system written in VAX basic..."
c.. "we already have a record/playback tool that we use for
testing and surely that would suffice"
d.. "our customers / testers would never have the time or
inclination to write the tests"
e.. etc...
In this workshop Sean Hanly will address these questions and
others based on his experience in using and implementing acceptance-testing
frameworks for several projects.

a.. Exploring Acceptance Testing Challenges
b.. Automated Acceptance Testing Patterns & Anti Patterns
c.. Automated Acceptance Testing Frameworks

As a dedicated technologist with over 13 years of industry
experience, Sean is committed to helping evolve the software development
industry. Today under Sean’s vision, Exoftware is helping companies all
over the world – get Agile. Sean’s work through Exoftware has taken him to
some of the world’s most prominent companies, where he has worked with a
